MCM Birmingham is a bi annual convention, with this year’s 2019 shows being held on March 24-26 and potentially November 23-24 if last year’s date is anything to go by. Both are held at the NEC, which is located in Solihull. It is near junction 6 of the M42 motorway, and is adjacent to Birmingham Airport and Birmingham International railway station.

How much and where to get tickets for MCM Birmingham Comic con

General entry tickets start from as little as £11.50 and priority tickets start from £16.50, the main difference being that priority gives you access to the show floor for an hour or 2 before general admission ticket holders. You can alternatively purchase a full weekend ticket for £31.50. Where can I buy tickets for MCM Birmingham Comic Con I hear you ask, look no further:

What to expect

Chaos. The NEC is a huge venue and Comic Con occupies both sides. If you are driving, the car park can be fun to navigate and expensive. The train is the best option and recommended where possible, you can walk from the station without even stepping foot outside too.

Top tips

If you are staying in a hotel, you ideally want one close by. The Ibis is a good budget option and the Hilton is also within walking distance if you wanted something slightly more upmarket. Obviously the earlier you book the better so do it as soon as you have booked your convention tickets.

If autographs and panels are your thing, you are in luck – be warned though, the lines are long so it may be worth paying extra for a priority ticket.

Modern day Comic con can be overwhelming with huge brands and companies all scrambling for a piece of the action, so make sure you dig deep and find time to search out the smaller traders, illustrators and writers.

Food options are limited and expensive at the NEC so be prepared to pay a premium for very average food. Granted, you aren’t going to Comic Con for a fine dining experience, but if you want our advice – take a good old fashioned packed lunch.
